Welcome

The Australasian Society for Infectious Diseases (ASID) is the leading professional body for infectious diseases and clinical microbiology across Australasia.

Our purpose is clear: “Advancing the prevention, diagnosis, and care of infectious diseases through education, research, and advocacy.”

The Aotearoa New Zealand ASID Annual Scientific Meeting is the premier gathering for adult and paediatric infectious disease and clinical microbiology specialists in New Zealand. It offers a unique opportunity for our community to connect, share insights, and strengthen our professional network.

We are delighted to host this year’s meeting in Hamilton and look forward to showcasing the city’s renowned hospitality.

Program Overview

The 2026 Aotearoa New Zealand ASID Annual Scientific Meeting will centre on the theme of "ID for All". The theme is designed to engage all healthcare workers who are interested and involved in ID to come together and share their experiences and learn from each other.

Designed to engage specialists and trainees alike, the program will be relevant to those working across Infectious Diseases, Clinical Microbiology, Antimicrobial Stewardship, Infection Prevention, and Public Health.

Bring your ideas, share your innovations, and get ready for lively, meaningful discussion!

Why register?

To celebrate World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week 2026, join your colleagues from across New Zealand and Australia at the Annual New Zealand Infectious Diseases Conference in Hamilton this November.

Open to all clinicians and scientists with an interest in infectious diseases, the conference offers an outstanding opportunity to network, collaborate on research, and learn from leading experts. Invited guest speaker Professor Jason Trubiano (Melbourne) will share his insights on how antibiotic allergy affects all. With infectious diseases continuing to impact every area of healthcare and the wider community, attendees will gain valuable insights into the latest clinical advances, emerging local threats, diagnostics, antimicrobial stewardship, and public health challenges affecting New Zealanders today. Whether you are an experienced specialist or an early-career clinician, the conference provides a forum to share ideas, foster new partnerships, and contribute to improving health outcomes nationwide.
