Clinical Research Network Meeting 2026

About the conference

The ASID Clinical Research Network (CRN) Meeting, to be held on 7and 8 August in Sydney, will bring together leaders in infectious diseases and microbiology research to showcase cutting-edge science, clinical innovation, and emerging models of clinical trial design. The meeting provides a national platform for investigator-initiated research that is practice-changing, collaborative, and focused on improving patient outcomes.

This year’s program places a strong emphasis on novel and adaptive clinical trial methodologies, translational research, and innovation across diverse clinical settings. A core priority of the CRN remains the support and development of early- and mid-career clinician researchers, with dedicated sessions designed to foster skills, networks, and leadership in clinical research.

We are delighted to welcome Professor Susanna Naggie (Duke University, USA), Deputy Editor of Clinical Infectious Diseases, as our international keynote speaker. Professor Naggie is a global leader in pragmatic and innovative trial design, viral hepatitis research, and implementation science, with particular expertise in large-scale public health interventions, including work aligned with triple elimination strategies. Her insights will provide valuable perspectives on advancing high-impact research from concept to practice.

The ASID CRN Meeting continues to serve as a forum for scientific excellence, clinical relevance, and research capacity building, strengthening Australia’s infectious diseases research ecosystem and its global connections.

The meeting brings together a community united by curiosity and impact, with a shared commitment to improving outcomes for patients through high-quality infectious diseases research. The Clinical Research Network reflects the very best of ASID including collaboration across disciplines, institutions, and borders, and a willingness to ask meaningful questions that translate into real-world clinical impact.

This meeting provides an important forum to connect, share ideas, strengthen partnerships, and support the next generation of clinician-researchers. We are particularly proud of the generosity of our members who volunteer their time, knowledge, and leadership to advance research capability across our community.

As ASID looks ahead to the future, strengthening research networks and supporting investigator-led collaboration remains central to our strategy. We hope this meeting sparks new conversations, reinforces existing connections, and leaves you energised for the work ahead.
