Cultural Safety Workshop

As part of the STP Grant secured by ASID, we are hosting a Cultural Safety Workshop at the Trainee Weekend.

This interactive workshop will explore cultural safety in infectious diseases practice, with a focus on First Nations health. Using practical discussion and relevant scenarios, trainees will consider how colonisation, racism, communication, trust and broader social and structural determinants shape infectious disease risk, access to care and treatment outcomes.

The session will also explore practical ways to make ID care more culturally safe, including working effectively with First Nations health services, interpreters and liaison teams, and developing treatment plans that are both clinically appropriate and workable for patients.

Our hope is that the workshop gives trainees space to reflect on these issues in the context of their own practice, and take away practical approaches they can use in day to day ID care.

You can register for the workshop during the main conference registration.

Registration

Registration to attend is limited due to space available so don't miss out and register now.
There is a nominal registration fee of $50 per person for the two days and this is to cover the third-party costs of venue and catering. We believe this is value for money for the learning and networking you will experience.

Dinner

There will be an ASID Trainee Dinner held at Naughton's Hotel on Saturday evening. The cost is only $75pp for a three-course meal. Beverages will be paid for individually on the night. This is a great opportunity to create lasting connections with like-minded colleagues. A highlight of the weekend!

Travel Grant

Travel grants will be made available to those who are in our Mentor Program for 2026 / 2027. This is funded by a generous grant from RACP and the Federal Health Department.
