About the conference

The ASID Bone and Joint Infections Conference is the leading specialty event bringing together close to 300 delegates across orthopaedic surgeons, infectious disease physicians, clinical microbiologists, pharmacists, trainees and nurses as well as other professionals across allied health services, clinical trials and primary scientists. Over two days, we collaborate, and advance discuss across the latest developments in the prevention, diagnosis and management of bone and joint infections.

INTERNATIONAL KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Dr Marjan Wouthuyzen-Bakker, University Medical Center Groningen

Marjan Wouthuyzen-Bakker is an infectious disease specialist working at the University Medical Center Groningen, the Netherlands. Her research field involves implant related infections; in particular periprosthetic joint infections and vascular graft infections.  She is the past-president of the ESCMID study group of implant associated infections (ESGIAI) and the current vice-president of the European Bone and Joint Infection Society (EBJIS). She has a leading role in many PJI networks, like the Northern Infection Network on Joint Arthroplasty (NINJA) and the Orthopaedics Device Infection Network (ODIN).

Dr. Carlos Higuera-Rueda, Cleveland Clinic Florida

Dr. Carlos Higuera-Rueda, is currently a staff surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic Florida, where he divides his time between leadership, research, and patient care. He is the Director of the Levitetz Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Director of Research of the Integrated Surgical Institute at Cleveland Clinic Florida. He currently holds the Amy and David Krohn Family Distinguish Chair in Orthopaedic Outcomes. Dr. Higuera completed his residency at the Cleveland Clinic and a clinical fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital
